Parker Neck Association
Parker Neck Association (PNA) is a homeowners’
community organization of about 50 families occupying almost all of a
peninsula near the mouth of the tidal Kennebec River in mid-Coast Maine,
about 7 miles south of Bath. The eastern side of the peninsula is on the
Kennebec River which is about ½ to1 mile wide in this region. The
western side faces a tidal Mill Pond which is partially separated from
the Kennebec by the remains of a historic stone dam. The southern
shoreline faces the dramatic mouth of the Kennebec and Wyman Bay.
Properties range in size from about 1 acre to over 10 acres. The
Association maintains a shared, private, 2 mile long dirt road and a ½
acre Common Land area on the water which has a modest wooden stair and
slide for small watercraft.
In general the Association values a balance between individual
fulfillment and preservation of the natural, scenic and traditional
resources that coastal Maine still provides. The Association’s
Bylaws
and Rules & Regulations govern certain aspects of our life as a
community, particularly with regard to construction of homes, though
design review is generally of very limited scope.
A Board of Directors is elected at an annual meeting of
Members, which usually occurs in early June. This Board
meets regularly (quarterly) to review the needs of the community, and
is open and available to the members for comment.
